NLA Baseball - Cardinals win game 3 against the Challengers 11-4.30.09.2013
After a 6-1 win in Zürich in game two of the NLA semifinals, the Cards took the lead with a lopsided 11-4 game 3 win on the Bern Almend on Sunday.
The Cards took an early 2-0 lead in the second inning on 3 hits an 2 Challengers errors. Tobias Imboden kept the Challengers bats quiet through the first four innings. In the bottom of the fourth inning the Cards blew the game wide open by scoring 7 more runs all with two outs.
After a Bussmann single, Gygax, Paulino and Hänzi followed with back-to-back-to-back doubles off starter Siegrist and Perigos followed a Ryan Olivier Byrne walk with yet another double to make it 9-0 after 4 innings played. After losing the shutout in the fifth, Tobias Imboden was replaced by Ryan Byrne on the mound after 5 2/3 solid innings of work. The Challengers managed to score 2 runs in the top of the 6th inning, which the Cards answered with two runs of their own on a sac fly and a wild pitch by Girasole. The game ended 11-4 with 18 Cards hits and 24 runners stranded!
Game 4 will be played on the Heerenschürli Ballpark on Saturday 5th October at 2 pm. Patrick Lawson will toe the rubber against Rob Sedin from the Challengers.
